VIDEO EDITING TECHNIQUES: THE EQUIPMENT
I’m not going to go into a lot as far as what equipment to use for your video because I covered that in this post.
Needless to say that having a smartphone and tripod to mount it is the minimum to get started.

VIDEO EDITING TECHNIQUES: THE SOFTWARE
There are two main software packages that I would recommend depending on whether you are a Mac or PC user.
First, for the Mac, I would highly recommend Screenflow. You can either get Screenflow on their site or download from the App Store.
I’m a Mac user and just love this program and will be using it. Cost: $99.
Second, for the PC and Mac, is Techsmith’s Camtasia. Camtasia is a great program and is available for both the Mac and the PC.
The PC version is a bit more spendy but well worth it. PC Cost: $299, Mac Cost: $99.Learn about Video Editing Software for you Video Marketing Click To Tweet
VIDEO EDITING TECHNIQUES: THE TECHNIQUES
The Intro to your video can be something as simple as a graphic image that introduces you and the topic for the video.
It should be short about 2 – 4 seconds long.
What I typically do is create a new intro image for each video I create.
I run the graphic for about 2.5 seconds or close and then move on.
There are a lot of different transitions that you can use within your video.
You can have transitions between changes in images.
There can also be transitions between different segments within your video.
The type of transition that you use is up to you.
I will tell you that I use the “Cross Dissolve” transition most of the time.
You can also have a short branded video as a transition.
I use this typically between my intro and the start of the main content.
I created this transition in my video editing program and then just use as a library file.
3. Text Information
Adding text callouts is an excellent way to get and keep your viewers attention.
It also reinforces what you are explaining.
I use text callouts throughout my videos to add some professionalism and clarity on my content.
Another thing I use text callouts for is my lower third telling everyone who I am.
Last but not least is your outro.
This can be the same as your intro or it can be a CTA video clip and graphic.
I like to use a CTA video clip like the one below.
