The Meaning of Christmas

The Birth of Christ

The Birth of Christ

I’m in my 60’s now and throughout the years of my life Christmas has become more and more commercial.  We have set aside the True Meaning of Christmas for all the gifts and sales that we can make.  Well this Christmas I want to talk briefly about the TRUE Meaning of Christmas.

Christmas began with the Birth of Jesus Christ, not Santa Claus.  Most Biblical scholars will tell you that Christ was actually born in the Fall of the year not December but that’s okay too.

There are many websites out there explaining this and how we started celebrating Christmas on December 25th.  Regardless of when Christ was born that fact is that He was and that Christmas is a celebration of the Birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.  Somewhere along the way mankind decided to add Santa Claus to the mix and the giving of presents and then it eventually became big business.

We have raised our children not only to understand that Christmas is a time for getting presents but they have come to expect it and are very disappointed if they do not.  Parents are pressured into purchasing elaborate gifts for friends and family and stores have learned how to capitalize on the what should be the most precious holiday of the year not the most commercial.

With all that said I want you to please take sometime this season to sit back and with your family really talk about the “Reason for the Season”.  The reason I love the MLM industry so much is because it is based and built on helping others and building up others and taking our eyes off of ourselves and helping others to improve and better their lives and the family’s lives.

The Birth of Christ and who He is, is the perfect example of giving and servitude.  He gave His life for us and when ask by the religious leaders of the day what was Greatest Commandment He reply with “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the great and foremost commandment.  The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’  On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”  Shouldn’t we do the same during this Christmas Season, All Year Long!

Honor Our Lord and Love Him and Others this year and see how many Blessings you and your family will enjoy.  God Bless You All and Have a Blessed Christmas.
