Becoming A Network Marketing Professional - Skill Set #4 Follow UpYou've all heard that The Fortune is in the Follow Up and to become a Network Marketing Professional you need to perfect the Follow-Up!

The bottom line is Follow Up is doing what you said you would do, period!

Network Marketing Professional – Follow Up

The only reason to have an exposure is to set up the next exposure!

So, when making that follow up call the first thing you are going to ask the prospect is, did they watch the video?

Your first caution is to NOT react badly if they tell you they haven't watch it yet.

Life happens and always remember that we are in the business of building relationships.

If they have watched the presentation you will want to ask them a few intelligent questions.

Question 1 

Never ask them “What Did You Think?”  They will tell you all the things they didn't like about the presentation.

You do want to ask them “What Did You Like Best?”

Question 2

Another great question to ask them is “On a scale of one to 10, with one being zero interest and 10 being you are ready to get started right away, where are you right now?”

Depending on the answer to these questions will depend on where you go next.

If their response is very positive and the number fairly high you can go directly into the closing process.

If on the other hand, they are middle of the road you may want to share with them more information or if you have product samples now would be a great time to share them.

It Takes an average of four to six exposures for the average person to join.

To become a Network Marketing Pro in the area of Follow Up it just takes practice and experience.

The more you do the more you learn it's just that simple.

I believe the Fortune is in GREAT Follow Up not just any follow-up.

Although I can tell you from experience that if you are consistent with your follow up then you are way ahead of the game and way ahead of most.

Becoming A Network Marketing Professional - Skill Set #3 PresentingWe've talked about the first two skills of Becoming a Network Marketing Professional which were Prospecting and Inviting your prospects to a presentation.

If you have sent them a link to a tool that they are watching on their own you have very little to do.

Your primary task in the above case is Follow up.

If on the other hand, you are physically with them, you may have some challenges to overcome.

Network Marketing Professional – Skill #3 Presenting

So, what are some of the challenges when giving a presentation?

The first one and probably the hardest to correct is YOU!

You need to take YOU out of the picture and not make you the issue.

So many newbies will sit down to do a presentation and start with “Let ME tell you…”

The second challenge is your prospects may know that you are not the expert so don't present yourself as one.

The third challenge is if you are successful in becoming the experts you will find that not many of your team are willing to do the same thing.

This will make what you are doing unduplicatable!

“In Network Marketing it doesn't matter what works.  It only matters what duplicates.”

Network Marketing Profession – Presenting Tips

The pros bring passion, enthusiasm, excitement, and belief.

If you ever watch a pro at work, you’ll see a fire in them that is contagious.

Make passion, enthusiasm, excitement, and belief your priority, then invite professionally and let the third-party resource do the rest.

You need to start with learning how to give a short and effective testimonial.

People are really interested in how much you know, but they are interested in your story.

A great theme for your story would be, If I can do it, anyone could do it.

Network Marketing Profession – Four Elements of a Good Story

  1.   Your Background
  2.   The things you didn't like about your background
  3.   How Network Marketing or your company came to the rescue
  4.   Your results, or how you feel about your future

The evolution of becoming a great presenter:

  1.   Crafting Your Story
  2.   Learning the Standard Opportunity Presentation
  3.   Learning different training presentations.

Network Marketing Profession – Summary

  1.   When you are prospecting, you are the messenger—not the message. Get yourself out of the way and use a third-party tool.
  2.   Learn to tell your story in a way that will make your prospects curious to hear more.
  3.   When it comes to presenting in front of a group of people, preparation is key. When you’re prepared, it’s fun.

This skill set is one, like the others that have to be practiced and practiced.

So, to continue my series on Becoming a Network Marketing Professional let's go to Skill Set #2 which is Inviting and getting people in front of your presentation.

Again I want to give the credit to Eric Worre and his amazing Go Pro book for this series.

Once you've identified who your prospects are the next skill you need to master is Inviting.

Network Marketing Professional –  Inviting

Eric calls this the “Gateway Skill” for Network Marketing.

It is certainly one of the critical skills you need to master.

No is going to just magically view your presentation unless you Invite them!

When you switch your mentality from being the hunter to being the hunted you realize that you are just educating people on what you have to offer.

Inviting them to see what you have to offer and let them decide.

Network Marketing Professional – Two Steps

The first thing the Pro's did was to invite people to attend some sort of event.

This might have been a one-on-one, a three-way phone conversation or maybe a small group meeting.

The second thing the Pro's did was to invite the people to review some sort of tool.

With today's technology, it's so easy to send somebody to a great video and even track when they have watched it.

I have found that using tools is a far better way to build a huge team and much more duplicatable.

Eric's Formula for Financial Independence in Network Marketing

“Your ability to get a large group of people to consistently do a few simple things over an extended period of time.”

As a professional, you are going to be inviting your prospects to review a tool or attend an event.

Here’s what you’re NOT going to be doing: You’re NOT going to be pitching people and trying to dazzle the world with your wisdom.

That approach will feed your ego but steal from your bank account.

Network Marketing Professional – Four Rules

There are four rules when it comes to the emotion behind inviting.

One – Be detached from the outcome.

Two – Be Yourself.

Three – Bring Some Passion to the game.

Four – Have a Strong Posture.

Network Marketing Professional – Eight Steps

The last thing I want to share are the eight steps to the Professional Invite.

This may sound complicated, but with a little practice, you'll find that you have mastered the skill of inviting.

  1.   Be In A Hurry
  2.   Compliment the prospect
  3.   Make the Invitation
  4.   If I, Would You
  5.   First Confirmation – Get the time commitment
  6.   Second Confirmation – Confirm the time commitment
  7.   Third Confirmation – Schedule the next call
  8.   GET OFF THE PHONE!

Becoming A Network Marketing Professional - Skill #1 ProspectingWhen people look at becoming a Network Marketing Professional one of the first things that consider is do they know anybody that would share an interest in what they are doing.

If you remember the introduction post we talked about the three types of people in Network Marketing.

Posers, Amateurs, and Professionals.

The Poser will make a mental list of 5-10 people and hope for the best.

The Amateur will actually take it to the next level and write their list down and probably make it to 100 people.

Professionals, on the other hand, approach finding people to talk to one of their core skills.

Network Marketing Professional – Skill Set #1 Prospecting

The professional is never worried about running out of prospects for their business.

They learn to create what is called an “Active Candidate List”  which is a dynamic list.

If you want to master the skill of Prospecting then you need to follow these four simple steps.

Step 1

Make your list as comprehensive as possible.

Include every person you can think of. EVERY person.

It doesn’t matter if you think they are a prospect or not.

Your database will be one of your most important assets. Everyone goes on the list.

They are negative, put them on your list.

You hate them, put them on your list.

If they are your best friend, put them on your list.

If they’ve said, “I’ll never be involved in Network Marketing,” put them on your list.

They’re 98 years old, put them on your list.

If they’re 18 years old, put them on your list.

Remember You are not required to prospect everyone on your list.

But it's very important to do the work necessary to capture your network on paper.

Step 2

You've probably heard of the concept of Six Degrees of Separation, right?

Well in this step you need to start looking at your list and thinking about Who Do They Know?

Start thinking about all the relationships in your life and who they know.

You are working on expanding your list to the next level.

Step 3

You should be constantly expanding your list at this point.

Whether you are using Social Media, Blogging, Video Marketing or just meeting new people.

Your goal should be to add at least two people to your list each day.

I love Harvey MacKay's book Dig Your Well Before You're Thirsty”.

Get as many on your list as you can, you don't have to prospect them all just have them there.

As a Professional, you should develop a higher sense of awareness of the people around you.

As you meet people online and offline ADD THEM TO YOUR LIST!

Step 4

Start Networking on Purpose.

This is what Professionals do.  They Network On Purpose!

Have fun in your life, start going more places, joining more activities and organizations.

Just start putting yourself out there more and more and building that list!

Who knows you may even meet some great new friends. 🙂

Becoming A Network Marketing Professional - IntroductionOver the next eight posts, I'm going to be sharing with you a series I call Becoming A Network Marketing Professional.  If you are thinking about MLM this is a must.

One of the things I will tell is that Network Marketing isn't perfect, It's just a Better Way!

These are just some of the benefits of having a Network Marketing Business and working from home.

So, if you are truly thinking of starting a home business Network Marketing is a great choice.

Apparently, the some of the financial masterminds think so also.

People like Tony Robbins, Harv Ekker, Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump.

So, let's get into these steps and skills for becoming a Network Marketing Professional.

Becoming A Network Marketing Professional – 3 Categories

1.   Posers

Posers treat this profession as a lottery ticket.

They’re hoping to hit it big with as little effort as possible. When I first started out, I was a Poser, hoping to ride off my dad and his partner’s coattails.

Luckily for me, I got some results and that kept me going, at least in the short-term.

But I think you can agree with me that remaining in the Poser category is a bad idea.

2.   Amateurs

Amateurs focus on different things like getting lucky with a monster distributor on their team.

The second thing Amateurs focus on is timing.

Worrying if they got in early enough and is the timing right on the product or service.

Thirdly, was their positioning.

Are you in the right organization with the right leadership or not.

Fourthly, Amateurs are always looking for a shortcut.

Always looking for an angle or gimmick to get things done.

3.  Professional

I love Eric's definition of the Network Marketing Professional.

“A person who is an expert in the skills required to build a large and successful Network Marketing Organization.”

There is a phrase in our profession that does more harm than good.

It says, “Ignorance on fire is better than knowledge on ice.”

The point of this phrase is that it’s better to be excited and ignorant than it is to be apathetic and smart.

That may be true, but why do we have to choose one or the other?

Again, I want to stress you NEED to get Eric Worre's Go Pro and get all of the amazing training he has in there.
