So I thought I would write a short post on the value of directing your traffic and viewers to your blog instead of social media.
Please don’t misunderstand I’m not saying Social Media is not great for generating leads and building relationships, I’m just saying that everything should point back to your blog.
I was asked the other day to consult with a local Real Estate company and generating leads for the company.
The wanted to know if they should have a blog or just be on Social Media.
First I asked them exactly what they were trying to accomplish. After establishing that they want to have a system for lead generation that would be handled by one of the new agents in the office, we began our discussion about blogging.

What I want you to understand that this is just 3 of many reasons to direct your traffic to your blog. These are the 3 that I thought were the most important.
You have probably heard all the nightmare stories where people have had their Social Media accounts suspended, locked or totally shut down.
As much as I love the social sites I know that at any time they could be shut down or at the least suspended.
My blog on the other hand I own. No one is going to tell me that they don’t like my content and shut me down or remove my content.
I have a self-hosted WordPress blog and back it up regularly so that if anything happens I can restore it at a moments notice and I’m back up and running.
I post on all the major Social Sites, but I always direct the viewer back to my blog.
2 They Don’t Go Away
Have you ever tried to find that great Facebook post you saw the day, or even a few hours after you saw it?
Virtually impossible right!
Of course, searching hashtags helps that’s assuming the one who posted it used them.
My site, on the other hand, is all encompassing and the visitor can just type in the search box what they want to find.
The content is out there forever. I’ve had people comment and I have got leads from posts I’ve written months, even years ago.
I will say that adding videos to your content will enhance things even more, but that’s another post.
3. Lead Generation
On the Social sites, you can certainly capture leads and build relationships with your friends.
How would like to be able to present multiple offers in front of your visitors so they have a choice of the training and value you offer.
I never know what’s going to tweak the interest of my visitors, but I’m able to have enough variety in my niche’ that it doesn’t matter.
I get leads every single day from my blog and as long as I keep sending my Social Media traffic back to the center of my marketing universe, My Blog, then I will always have a lead generation machine.
If you don’t have a blog then you need to either create you own blog or use a service that will create one for you like fiverr.com.
