When people look at becoming a Network Marketing Professional one of the first things that consider is do they know anybody that would share an interest in what they are doing.
If you remember the introduction post we talked about the three types of people in Network Marketing.
Posers, Amateurs, and Professionals.
The Poser will make a mental list of 5-10 people and hope for the best.
The Amateur will actually take it to the next level and write their list down and probably make it to 100 people.
Professionals, on the other hand, approach finding people to talk to one of their core skills.
Network Marketing Professional – Skill Set #1 Prospecting
The professional is never worried about running out of prospects for their business.
They learn to create what is called an “Active Candidate List” which is a dynamic list.
If you want to master the skill of Prospecting then you need to follow these four simple steps.
Make your list as comprehensive as possible.
Include every person you can think of. EVERY person.
It doesn’t matter if you think they are a prospect or not.
Your database will be one of your most important assets. Everyone goes on the list.
They are negative, put them on your list.
You hate them, put them on your list.
If they are your best friend, put them on your list.
If they’ve said, “I’ll never be involved in Network Marketing,” put them on your list.
They’re 98 years old, put them on your list.
If they’re 18 years old, put them on your list.
Remember You are not required to prospect everyone on your list.
But it’s very important to do the work necessary to capture your network on paper.
You’ve probably heard of the concept of Six Degrees of Separation, right?
Well in this step you need to start looking at your list and thinking about Who Do They Know?
Start thinking about all the relationships in your life and who they know.
You are working on expanding your list to the next level.
You should be constantly expanding your list at this point.
Whether you are using Social Media, Blogging, Video Marketing or just meeting new people.
Your goal should be to add at least two people to your list each day.
I love Harvey MacKay’s book “Dig Your Well Before You’re Thirsty”.
Get as many on your list as you can, you don’t have to prospect them all just have them there.
As a Professional, you should develop a higher sense of awareness of the people around you.
As you meet people online and offline ADD THEM TO YOUR LIST!
Start Networking on Purpose.
This is what Professionals do. They Network On Purpose!
Have fun in your life, start going more places, joining more activities and organizations.
Just start putting yourself out there more and more and building that list!
