3 Valuable Reasons For Blogging

3 Valuable Reasons For Blogging

One of the forefront marketing questions going on these days is are there really any reasons for blogging. To Blog or not to Blog that is the question.

In this post, I want to explore with you three ways blogging WILL help your business.

Also, three ways help YOU and I will give you some ACTION Steps at the end that you can apply to your blog.

3 Valuable Reasons For Blogging

First, let's start with two things blogging is NOT.

1.     A Blog is NOT an Announcement or News Update!

You want people to know what you’re up to and update them, I recommend creating a separate section on your blog for those kinds of things or use Social Media.

People are coming to your blog to get value in the niche' you are a part of not announcements about things.  They won't stay around if that's all they get.

Keep the value current and up-to-date and keep your “Blog” and “Announcements” sections separate.

2.   A Blog Is Not JUNK Content!

If you are not going to be adding value and just writing to write and it's junk then don't waste your time.

Take the time to write articles that people will want to read and get value from and will stand the test of time.

You don't have to be a world-class author to write a great blog post.  You do have to provide value in such a way that people love to read what you have to say.

Just be you and provide value NOT JUNK.

3 Reasons For Blogging In Your Business

I wanted to break this down into two sections.

What blogging does for your business and then what blogging does for you.

Let's start with your business.

1.   Blogging Drives Traffic to Your Website

What I discovered a few years back when I began blogging was the reality of traffic.

I had no idea the impact on the traffic to my blog site was affected by the post I wrote and the consistency of writing.

I was amazed at how much power one good blog post could have.

Because of blogging, I went from being unknown to the number 17 blog in the world in my niche.

That's powerful!

It took consistency, action and adding value, but it has been well worth it.

Blogging, if done correctly, will equal traffic, period!

2.   Traffic Then Leads To Sales

The next logical step is that your blogging leads to sales.

With consistent value being poured out to your target market you begin to develop trust and relationships.

We all know that people do business with those they know, like, and trust.

Blogging helps you accomplish all of that on a long-term basis.

Not to mention the ability for your post to go viral in the Social Media world.

So, it comes down to your blog having posts that offer value wrapped around products that enhance that value.

BLOGGING->TRAFFIC->LEADS

3.   Positions you as an expert in your field or niche.

Last, but not least is blogging positions you as an expert in your field.

You don't want to be like all the other websites out there that are just providing facts about their company and what it does.

You want to be that person that provides resources and “how to's” that everyone can use.

Your website should strive to be the “go to” place for knowledge, value, and training for your target audience.

As you get better and better and provide more and more people will start looking at you as the expert in your field.

And this is exactly where you want to be!

3 Reasons For Blogging For YOU

Now let's tackle the benefits having your own website and publishing valuable content has for you.

These are three things that I believe have made me a better person and marketer.

1.   It Makes You A Better Communicator

One of the main things I discovered after writing posts for the past few years, is how much better a communicator I have become.

I've gone from being a writing disaster to being able to communicate exactly what my ideas are in a concise and easy to understand way.

This is invaluable because of the nature of the audience we have to communicate with.

In this day and age, you only have a few minutes to capture the attention and then hold it long enough to get your point across.

The better the communicator the more successful your blog will become.

2.   It Opens Doors To New Opportunities

This is a great side effect of your website.

Opening doors that may have never been opened before.

I've had this happening so many times since I started blogging that it has simply amazed me.

Don't underestimate the power of your website and the exposure you will and can get from it.

Just be consistent and continue to add value!

People will start to know you as a household name and the doors will begin to open.

3.   It Creates a Library of Lifetime Resources

I can't stress the importance of this one enough.

Having a huge supply of reusable resources at your disposal is priceless.

I currently have over 600 articles that I can draw from and others can use as resources.

That becomes a powerful library of tools and value.

The very cool part is that you can organize it, catalog it and it stays around forever, or at least it appears to.

Don't underestimate the power of these resources.

Reasons For Blogging – Action Items

Here are some action items you can start with today even if you have been blogging for awhile.

These are kinda like a formula for successful blog posts.

Keep posts between 500 to 2000 words

Google recommends at least 350 words to accumulate any page value. On the other hand, posts over 2000 words begin feeling like chapters of books. A long post has it’s purpose, particularly with SEO, but it ought to be extremely engaging to keep readers interested for that long. For reference, this post is closer to the 2K mark. Most posts don’t need to be this long

Write for PEOPLE, not just SEO

– A posts SEO value is largely due to how long people are staying on the page. If people read it but it’s not connected and they drop on the page, it’ll show in your rankings. This also means that you want to write the post with YOUR personality. Don’t write it like a robot trying to follow a perfect SEO template for blogging. Engage with your audience and you’ll find that’s the best start to building good SEO value.

Bullet & Number lists go a long way

– A blog is mostly words, so be sure to organize those words in a pleasing way. If there is ever an opportunity to create bulleted or numbered lists, do so! I gave you 3 ways blogging can help your business and 3 ways it can help you personally. Can you imagine if I just lumped that all into one paragraph? It wouldn’t be very pleasing and would be hard on the eyes. Separate things like that out in a pleasing, visual manner and it’ll go a long way with your readers.

Follow a basic structure

– Intro, content, outro structure. We as humans like a beginning, middle and an end. Maybe it’s movies, maybe it’s a book, maybe it’s the way our brains are wired. Either way, follow a structure that people can follow.

Offer actionable or take away items

– Offering great information and content is good and all but offering great ACTIONABLE information and content is even better. Empower your readers and watch how it pays off.

3 Reasons For Blogging – Summary

So, are you inspired to start a blog, if so your next question is probably how and where to get started, right?

Well, that’s a post worth of information that I'll save for another blog post.

But I’ll say that if you use WordPress (which is the website platform I use and recommend), then it’s very easy to start blogging on your site.

If not, no worries, you can sign up to start a free WordPress Blog or use other site builders out there.

The Number 1 Ingredient To Building Your Brand Online

The Number 1 Ingredient To Building Your Brand OnlineIf you are looking to start Building Your Brand Online and join the Top Earners and Top Experts in your business you need to know this important ingredient.

What I am going to share with you comes from Tanya Aliza at Ray Higdon's Personal Branding & Marketing Bootcamp.

Tanya Aliza's session was all about the 5 Ingredients to Building a “Results Producing” Brand & Online Presence.

She listed the 5 Ingredients which you will find below and then proceeded to go into depth on each one.

I'm only going to share my insights on the first one.

The Number 1 Ingredient To Building Your Brand Online

Below are the 5 Ingredients Tanya presented:
  1.   Your Branded Infrastructure
  2.   Sexy Giveaway
  3.   Your Compelling Content or Value
  4.   Your Promotion
  5.   Conversions & Sales

Today I'm going to talk about the first one “Your Branded Infrastructure.”

She began by giving some examples of infrastructures that one might use.

  •   Facebook Page
  •   YouTube
  •   Google Plus
  •   Twitter
  •   Instagram
  •   Her's and My Favorite —> Your Blog

The key is to pick one and then own it.

Build your tribe on that medium and provide value and training to your niche'.

Any of these platforms will work, and a multitude of top leaders are using one or all of them to build their brand online.

For me, though I prefer my Blog as my primary platform and here are some of the reasons why:

Ater watching the leaders and especially my mentor Ray Higdon everything linked back to their blogs.

  •   It's Yours, You Own it and no on can take it away or shut you down.
  •   You have more control over your visitor's actions
  •   It's a real Residual Lead Strategy for your Business.
  •   It works for you 24/7 even while you sleep or vacation!
  •   Positions you as the Credible Authority so that People Take You Seriously.
  •   Builds a Relationship withYour Prospects without You Being Present.
  •   It Contributes to Higher Conversions with fewer Objections.
  •   It Builds you u as a mini-celebrity.

The Number 1 Ingredient To Building Your Brand Online – How It Works

So, here's the basic idea on how this works.

Besides writing blog posts on a consistent basis with value for your market, you should be pushing all of your other platform posts back to your blog.

For example, you post something on Facebook and add a link to an appropriate post on your blog.

You obviously won't do this for every Social Media post but 80% or so.

So when people go back to your blog they are exposed to:
  •   Value
  •   Recommended resources and training
  •   Lead Magnet exposure
  •   And your Story

Besides the Social Media platforms, you will start getting organic traffic from the search engines back to your blog.

Anytime you are out and about you can also be sending people to your blog.

In this scenario, you will need to concentrate on making sure your blog is structured to provide value, training, and information for your market.

The goal here is to provide value and collect leads, that's it!

Why I Prefer Blogging For Marketing And List Building

Why I Prefer Blogging For Marketing And List BuildingOf all the mediums out there for marketing online, I prefer Blogging For Marketing and List Building above all of the rest and today I will explain why.

You might be like I was and think that blogging was for the experts and very famous people.

If you are setting on the edge when it comes to starting your blog, I hope this post will help you move forward.

Why I Prefer Blogging For Marketing And List Building

First, let's chat about why people resist starting a blog.

  •   To Technical.
  •   Don't know what to blog about.
  •   It cost to much time to maintain.
  •   It's not duplicatable.

These are some of the things I've heard over the years, and you may have some different ones of your own.

Why I Prefer Blogging For Marketing And List Building – My Answers

To Technical –

Here's what I will tell you about the technical aspects of starting a blog.

I'm a Techie and love creating websites and helping others do the same.

Not everyone is like that, but with WordPress, you can set up a blog in just a few minutes and start pumping out value.

If you are just not up to doing the tech stuff at all, then outsource it and let someone else do it for you.

So, the key is DON'T let the Technical aspects of starting a blog stop you from getting started.

Don't Know What To Blog About –

This fear was one of mine when I first got started and kept me from moving forward for way too long.

It wasn't until I found the ILT method for content that things changed.

Once I learn Ray's ILT method I have never been concerned about creating valuable content on a daily basis.

It Cost To Much Time to Maintain –

At first, I felt like that myself, and I found that the more consistently I wrote posts and created content the easier and faster I became.

In the beginning, it would take me an hour or more to write a blog post.

Now if it takes me 30 minutes it's because I've got interrupted and have to come back to it later.

It's like anything else you learn and want to become good at; it takes practice and consistency.

Don't get discouraged because you feel like it takes to much of your time, just keep going.

If you are using the ILT method, I promise it will get easier and easier.

It's Not Duplicatable –

The first question I have for you what is duplicatable?

You're going to find that most of what you do are not necessarily duplicable by the untrained average person.

What I have found is that blogging allows me to create reusable resources that can train and support my team.

Blogging allows me to have a repository of training that I own and not some other company or platform.

Teach your team by training the trainers and creating valuable reusable resources for your niche'.

Why I Prefer Blogging For Marketing And List Building – Some More Things

Here are a few things that make blogging my primary method for marketing and list building online.

  •   You own the content.
  •   Blog posts become great reusable content for training and building.
  •   Great way to collect leads.
  •   Allows me to build my Personal Brand.

Understand that the primary purpose of blogging is two-fold.

  •   Building Your Personal Brand
  •   Generating Qualified Targeted Leads.

Why I Prefer Blogging For Marketing And List Building – Summary

In conclusion, the reason you are not blogging if you feel like you should is that of FEAR.

Here's my definition of FEARFalse Evidence Appearing Real.

I hope today in this post I have removed some of those fears and allowed you to move forward on your blogging journey.

Blogging is a great journey to be a part of and so very rewarding if you get past your fears and just do it!

How To Add Audio Story Images To Your WordPress Blog

How To Add Audio Story Images To Your WordPress BlogIf an image is worth a thousand words, an image connected with audio must be worth a lot more than a thousand words, right? Introducing the Audio Story.

Adding audio images for WordPress articles is a neat way to add some context, training or clarification to the pictures you use on your site.

What do I mean by “audio stories”?

An Audio Story is an audio file that is connected up with an image on your WordPress site.

How Do Audio Story Images Work

In this post, I’ll show you exactly what I mean by audio stories for WordPress.

Then, I’ll show you how they can be added to your site using a free plugin called Audio Story Images.

Users will see an audio icon in the top left corner of selected images.

And if they click on the icon, the sound will instantly start playing:

You can see an example on the right and below is a live example.

By clicking on the audio symbol, you will hear my message.

Audio Story Uses For Your Posts

  •   Certainly, one use could be to add some pizazz to your artistic images or even some inviting background music.
  •   If you are like me and use images as examples when writing a technical training post the audio could explain in more detail.
  •   The list of applications are endless and only tied to your imagination.

How To Use Audio Story Images

The first thing you need to do is get the plugin, install it and then activate it.

You can download the plugin here.

Once you have completed this here is how the plugin works.

You need to have both an image and an audio file uploaded to your Media Library of your WordPress site.

Then, go to Media → Library.

Make sure you use List view, not Grid view

.

You should see a new Audio Story column.

Just click Attach next to the image you want to add audio to:

Once you have linked the image and audio file, the Audio Story column should update to reflect this connection.

From this point, all you need to do is insert the image into your next post or page and presto chango you have Audio on your image.

Pretty simple but incredibly powerful tool.

Audio Story Images – Summary

In conclusion, this plugin gives you one more tool in your marketing arsenal that can be used to attract new leads.

Also thanks to Elegant Themes for turning me on to this great plugin.

I would love to hear how you are using Audio Images in your blog.  Please share that with us in the comments below.

Here's the big difference I have found; You don't own your content on Social Media sites, period!

So, why do I believe that blogging is a better method or at least a more secure method?

You own your blog, and the content stays around as long as you want.

People have the ability to search your blog with ease and find the valuable content you create.

Have you ever tried to find that post that flew by on your Facebook Newsfeed a week later?

Pretty much impossible, right?

How Do Blogs Work For Online Marketing Revealed

Please, don't misunderstand me I'm not saying that all of these marketing strategies are useful.

What I'm saying is that I make my blog the hub of my marketing and everything else points there.

If I'm doing a Facebook post and insert a link, it will typically point back to my blog or a blog post with more information.

You could take the time to learn all of this over time through trial and error, but believe me taking a course was much easier.

My mentor and friend Ray Higdon put together a Harvard Class Course on how to become an expert through blogging that is amazing.

Consistency and Commitment are the keys to your success.
