Fearless in your Prospecting

Have you ever wondered how you can become Fearless in your Prospecting?  Wouldn’t it be great to never have that debilitating fear that comes from prospecting not only the cold market, but even your warm market.  Well I may have some quick answers for you and it won’t necessarily be easy but certainly worth it.

I was reading this article by the great Ceasar Rodriquez on becoming fearless and getting tough.  Here’s a excerpt that I really liked that I think does a great job summing things up.

“If you want to succeed and make big money you gotta be tough and stop caring so much about what others think and to not let the opinions of others sway you. Let the haters hate.”

What does it mean to become Fearless in your Prospecting?  I believe that it means to be so focused on what you are doing that you have blocked out all the distractions, noise, and negative influence that keeps you from doing what you know you need to do.

Let’s look at an example like a professional athlete.  A boxer for instance, he has to be focused on his opponent and his boxing, not the crowd and all the noise they are making, good or bad.

Why do you think people are afraid in the first place.  I mean we’re just talking with someone about something that could change their lives.  Isn’t it funny how when we see a great movie, eat at a great restaurant, find a great computer, and the list goes on and on, we have no problem telling everyone about it and giving it the old thumbs UP.

The difference is we start caring about what others think when it comes to what we are doing with our lives.  So you saw a good movie, who cares right, but if you are doing one of those things, now everyone has an opinion.

The shame with all this is that telling them about a great movie or place to eat isn’t going to change their lives or financial status.  What you have to offer them has incredible value and the potential to change not only their lives but their families forever.

Yet we have such thin skin and don’t want people to think badly of us or that we are doing something stupid or wasting our time that we let this fear stop us dead in our tracks.

If we want to become Fearless in our Prospecting then we have to develop a rhino skin and a no care attitude.  We have to get so focused that the noise of other people’s opinions never breaks through.  You have the power to eject them from the game when they get out of line, so use it and say next.

Do we really believe that we have something to offer that will change their lives or not.  If your hairdresser tells you “that thing sounds like a pyramid” does that really change what you have to offer, and is your hairdresser living the life you want for yourself and your family, probably not!

This does not mean you have to become this robot of uncaring feelings and rude to everyone.  What it does mean is that you have to develop a thick hide and not let the dream stealers of the world sway you off your course.  You can and should still have great passion for others and your business.

Thin skin NO SUCCESS, Thick skin MUCH SUCCESS!
