Here’s a small snippet from the Wikipedia article on what Thanksgiving Day here in the US is all about.
The event that Americans commonly call the “First Thanksgiving” was celebrated by the Pilgrims after their first harvest in the New World in 1621. This feast lasted three days, and it was attended by 90 Native Americans (as accounted by attendee Edward Winslow) and 53 Pilgrims. The New England colonists were accustomed to regularly celebrating “thanksgivings”—days of prayer thanking God for blessings such as military victory or the end of a drought.
This is going to be a short post today just wish everyone whether you are in the US or not a Blessed Day of Giving Thanks. Thanksgiving Day is about family, friends and being grateful for what we have been blessed with.
God Bless Everyone This Thanksgiving Day
If you read my post yesterday I talked a little bit about BLACK FRIDAY. Here in the US the day after Thanksgiving Day is called Black Friday.
It’s a day when people get up before the crack of dawn, rush to the stores, stand in line in the cold and hope to get the shopping deal of a lifetime.
The term “Black Friday” came out of the old Philadelphia Police Department’s traffic squad. The cops used it to describe the worst traffic jams which annually occurred in Center City on the Friday after Thanksgiving Day.
I would encourage you this year to make it “White Friday” instead of “Black Friday.”
Use this day for passing on the caring and giving that started the day before.
